Magos Foundation Prize 2024

The wise as a model of inspiration

MAGOS means “THE WISE” according to Eastern traditions. In ancient Persian, MAGOS is “the one who knows how to do.” The Latin derivative “MAGIS” characterizes a masterful way of thinking that enables one to act well.

Who are the new “magos” of the contemporary world?

In our time, the etymology of the word MAGOS particularly resonates in these well-known or anonymous personalities distinguished by their commitment to the concerns of the contemporary world.

These Honorary Awards are an opportunity to pay tribute to the career of personalities, philanthropists, institutions, and organizations that have followed the path of the etymology of the word MAGOS, that is, “the scholarly expert with the ability to achieve great feats.”

TREATISE ON TOLERANCE HUMANITARIAN PRIZE

Fight intolerance in the name of human dignity

The “Treaty on Tolerance”, written by Voltaire in 1763 on the occasion of the death of Jean Calas, a Protestant unjustly accused of the death of his son who wanted to convert to Catholicism, is more topical than ever on its 260th anniversary. With this treatise, Voltaire calls for tolerance between religions and attacks religious fanaticism.

The mission of this financial award is to encourage the commitment of those who follow in Voltaire’s footsteps to fight intolerance and help religious minorities in the name of human dignity.

It will distinguish the actions of the messengers of hope who, every day, try to bring together and unite people of different faiths, respecting their particularities. Its objective is to support the “messengers of peace” or “everyday heroes” who intervene in situations of anguish or religious conflict. Aid to religious minorities will be done within the framework of a humanistic and non-religious approach, with the primary objective of respecting cultural diversity.

TREATISE ON TOLERANCE PRIZE AWARDED TO THE NOBEL WOMEN’S INITIATIVE for their work to honor and advance the mission of women laureates of the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.
