The Magos Foundation invites you to follow the paths of wisdom through historical and contemporary journeys. Its ambition is to act in the face of the great challenge of interreligious and intercultural dialogue.

Following the path of these wise men and exploring the roots of their legacy is to encounter Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Hinduism, Catholicism, and Islam. A bridge between people, civilizations, and religions.

MAGOS Foundation® is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to disseminating and promoting the encounter between peoples and religions.

The MAGOS FOUNDATION—under Spanish law—and the MAGOS ENDOWMENT FUND—under French law—were created to share, transmit and promote those values intrinsically linked to the etymology of the word “Magos”: generosity, altruism, diversity, tolerance and rapprochement. of individuals, whatever their origin.

THE COLLECTIONS

The Foundation is the custodian of an art collection dedicated to the great sages in the history of humanity who are found in the “three religions of the book”, as well as certain kings of the East known for their support of peaceful coexistence between cultures and religions. The flagship collection is dedicated to the most famous kings of the East in the history of humanity: the Three Wise Men, also known as “the three Wise Men”.

Educational programs

The interactive designs of the exhibition spaces will be used as educational spaces to invite school groups and will allow them to understand specific themes.

Discovery of the Great Empires of Antiquity

The great journey of the Magi leads us to discover the Pandyan Kingdom of the Magus Caspar (India and Sri Lanka), the Parthian Empire of the Magus Melchior (Persia), as well as the Roman Empire and its dependencies, such as the Kingdom of Mauretania which, thanks to its king Juba II, was a center of knowledge and culture. The Kingdom of Axum of the Magus Balthazar in Africa was one of the four great powers of its time, alongside Persia, Rome, and China.

The journey of the Magi allows us to better understand the fundamental element that united peoples and civilizations: trade, primarily through the incense route and the silk route.

What the West Owes to the East

The first Eastern Christian theologians greatly influenced our Western beliefs and popular traditions related to the Magi. Constantinople, the capital of the Christian Eastern Empire, undoubtedly enhanced the legacy of the Magi for posterity.

The connection between East and West is an integral part of the development of European cultures and mindsets, especially due to the influence of the Phoenicians and Carthaginians from the 10th century B.C.

This connection is evidenced by the earliest known depiction of a Magus, dating back to prehistoric times. It is found in an open cave near Jaén, in Andalusia. On the rock, there are three letters carved in Punic or Carthaginian script to the left of a figurative figure. They spell the word mgš or mgsh (magosh), which means “magus.”

Educating About Religious Facts and Not Religions Through the Lens of the Magi

Discovering the different religions of the Magi and the interpretations of the prophecies of great Hebrew figures allows us to “know more rather than believe.” The legacy of the Magi leads us to an understanding of events related to other religions, such as the first Hijra in Islam, the nativity in the Quran, or the Festival of Fire in Iran.
